This alphabet subs in Japanese hiragana characters that correspond to the sound that two English letters make in the alphabet. In this case, あ is a, で is de, ひ is hi, の is no, and つ is tu. The last letter is actually pronounced tsu, but in older versions of english translations it was written as tu.
